How up-to-date are the cheatsheets?

The cheatsheets are updated weekly during training camp and then periodically during the season. Playoff cheatsheets come out just prior to the playoffs, and are updated as soon as all the teams are confirmed. All updates are pre-listed on the cheatsheet download page. The Puckjunkie ticker (top of every page) will also usually alert you to the availability of updated cheatsheets.

When is the next cheatsheet update?

How many players are listed?

The number varies but usually we have about 600 skaters and 45 goalkeepers. With a 30 team league and 23 man rosters, you can do the math to see that we don't skip many players. You'll be hard pressed to find another cheatsheet with Nolan Pratt, Ivan Ciernik and Jason Strudwick listed - with predictions.

What stats do you show?

Currently the cheatsheets contain the following predicted stat categories for skaters: games, goals, assists, points, plus/minus, powerplay points, shorthanded points, goals per game, assists per game, shots and shot percentage. In addition, we list the players' positions, projected line, and the exclusive Puckjunkie Safety Rating. Goaltender stats include: games, minutes, goals against average, wins, losses, ties, shutouts, shots against and save percentage. And of course, all players get their own insightful commentary by Puckjunkie staff.

Are the cheatsheets sortable?

Yes. All cheatsheets are available as Excel spreadsheets. Fell free to mess them up any way you want. You can always download a clean (read "not screwed up") version when you need it.

I can't find a certain player.

Well there is an off chance we missed one, though we recommend a thorough search using the Find command (Control + F in Excel, use the cute little binocular icon in Acrobat). If you can't spell the player's name, try using the first few letters of the last name, or the first name. If you still can't find the player you are looking for feel free to drop us a line. It may be a spelling mistake on our part, or maybe somebody who just slipped through the cracks. Hey we're damn good, but not infallible! You'll have our eternal gratitude if you point out someone we missed (who knows - you may even get honourable mention in the next cheatsheet update!).

Are the cheatsheets in electronic form?

Yes. Our files come in 3 formats: Microsoft Excel (.xls), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) and occasionally, WinZip (.zip) when the file is big (and after it is unzipped, you will need one of the other software products to open it). Acrobat and Winzip are free products - just visit the links to download the necessary software. For fully sortable stats, you are going to need Microsoft Excel.

Can you customize predictions for my league?

In a word - not likely. Ok, that's two words. It just isn't cost effective for us to spend a lot of time doing specialty cheatsheets. That said, if you have a big order (as in cheatsheets for every guy in your pool) send us an email and maybe we can come to some sort of arrangement. But don't wait until the night before your draft - you'll be using the standard version for sure.

The cheatsheets don't show one of the categories you promised.

Sometimes the Excel versions of the cheatsheet files are saved with one or more columns scrolled off to the left side of the screen. Make sure you scroll all the way to the left and right of the spreadsheet if you can't find something we said would be there. Also, check the tabs at the bottom of the page to see if the information you want is on another sheet of the workbook.

Are rookies included in your rankings?

You bet. We actually do a special section called "Top 30 Prospects" as well as mixing the rookies into the regular skater cheatsheet.

I found a mistake/missing player in the cheatsheet.

Missing players? No way! Mistakes? Not a chance! Ok, sometime they do happen. But rarely. In the case of a missing player, please follow the instructions above before contacting us. If it really is a mistake, we'd appreciate it if you'd let us know so we can change it for everyone else. Which of course being a good GM, you would be happy to do. Unless you are really diabolical of course....

How do I sign-up/subscribe?

Do you have a credit card? Then let us begin (if the answer to this question is no, please see below):

Visit the cheatsheet purchase page - most likely it's the page you just came from! - and click on the PayPal "ADD TO CART"  button beside the product of your choice (let us take this moment to recommend the Hardcore Supreme Mustard and Mayo Package). That will open a new browser window for a PayPal shopping cart containing the product you want.

Click on the "checkout" button and you will be redirected to another PayPal page.

If you already have a PayPal account...

...simply sign in and follow the instructions through to the end. Please ensure you follow all the PayPal instructions carefully. VERY IMPORTANT - At the completion of your PayPal transaction (you'll be on the confirmation page), MAKE SURE you click the "Click here to continue" link at the bottom of the page so you will be automatically redirected to the cheatsheet download page. We advise bookmarking the page immediately, so that you have easy access to the updated cheatsheets as they are released.

If you don't already have a PayPal account...

...you will have to set one up.  Look in the middle of the page for the "If you have never paid through PayPal, CLICK HERE " button. Click on it! This will take you through the process of setting up a PayPal account. This will involve a small, refundable charge to your credit card. Once you have completed this process, you will receive an email from PayPal with instructions for verifying your account.

The all-powerful "Click Here" button!

This is where the credit card charge comes in. Two or three days after you sign up with PayPal a charge will be made on the credit card you signed up with. PayPal bills a nominal amount to your card, and in the transaction description includes a code number. Once you have that number, click on the verification link in the PayPal email, punch it in, and voila! - you are signed up. And the nominal charge is credited back to your account.

"But I can't wait to get my credit card statement!" you say. Well thanks to the wonder of modern technology you don't have to! If you have access to your credit card transactions online (and most people do) you should be able to view the transaction as soon as it is billed. When you locate the PayPal transaction on your credit card, follow the instructions on the screen and within a few minutes your account should be active. The Puckjunkie product that you had previously selected should already be in your PayPal shopping cart, so all you will have to do is complete the transaction, as per the instructions above. Again - VERY IMPORTANT - at the completion of your PayPal transaction (you'll be on the confirmation page), MAKE SURE you click the "Click here to continue" link at the bottom of the page so you will be automatically redirected to the cheatsheet download page. We advise bookmarking the page immediately, so that you have easy access to the updated cheatsheets as they are released.

How do I get my cheatsheets?

Once you have paid for your cheatsheets you should be redirected to a confirmation page by PayPal (it takes a few seconds). But if not, just go to the Puckjunkie homepage, and click on PJ Predictor at the top of the page. Enter the email address and password that you entered when you subscribed and voila - you are in!

How can I pay for my cheatsheets? Can I order by mail?

Credit card through PayPal is our first choice, and we hope yours. It is the fastest, most efficient and cheapest (it's free for you!) method of transferring us money. But on the off-chance that you don't have one, we can make alternate arrangements. We can accept personal cheques in Canadian $ equivalents (email us for the exact figures) from Canadians, or money orders (from pretty much everybody). Here's what you need to do:

Why do you use PayPal?

It's really simple. We use PayPal for all our transactions here at Puckjunkie. It is the fastest, simplest, most secure method of paying by credit card over the internet. It cost you nothing, it costs us only a little, and it really helps us to keep our records in order. It's all win baby!

I completed my PayPal transaction but didn't get the cheatsheet link.

More than likely you didn't click on the "Click here to continue" link at the bottom of the last PayPal page. If you can get back there, or are still there, click on that link! Otherwise, hang by your in-basket for a few hours. We send confirmation emails to all our customers on a pretty regular basis, and in that email will be directions on how to get your cheatsheets. If you haven't heard from us in 24 hours, feel free to drop us a line. Have you double checked the email address you entered in PayPal? Often we find that people have used separate addresses - we send to the one registered with PayPal.

PayPal is making me wait for a confirmation # - How can I get my cheatsheets now?

The fastest way to get your PayPal confirmation # (and thus your cheatsheets) is to check your credit card statement online. Almost all credit card companies allow you to do this. We suggest visiting their websites or calling their 1-800 service numbers if you don't know how.

I double-paid for my cheatsheet - how do I get a refund?

We usually catch this ourselves - and rub our hands together in glee! Just kidding - we will send you a note if we notice it and automatically refund one of the payments. But if we miss it, and you think you have been billed twice, please, send us an email. We will be happy to check into it and refund any double payments.

Can I order the cheatsheet if I live in Canada/USA/Trinidad-Tobago etc?

If you want our product, we want to sell it to you - wherever you live. As it is downloadable, as long as you have web access (and you must, else how did you get here?) we can get you our product. There is also the mail order option for the Luddites in the group.

I ordered one of the premium packages. How do I choose/get my hat and shirt?

To paraphrase Henry Ford, "You can have any colour/size you want, as long as it is black and XL." But seriously, we will send you a confirmation email requesting your shipping address and your size/colour choices. Did we mention how cool the hats are?

Can I order my cheatsheets by email/fax/phone?

We don't currently have the ability to take credit card info this way. Besides, it isn't very secure. In the future we may have this option available, but until then, you will need to order through PayPal or by mail. Sorry.

I don't want to use my credit card online. What are my other options?

Snail mail baby! But seriously - you give your credit card out in restaurants, right? Trust us when we tell you that PayPal is way, way, way more secure than that. Way.

I am having trouble downloading the cheatsheets.

If at first you don't succeed - blame technology! We would ask you to try once more, just in case it might be a mistake on your end. We know, we know - highly unlikely. But please, humour us. If you still can't get them, check the security settings on your browser. We find that the most common problem with downloading is a result of a high security setting in Internet Explorer. You will need to go into the security settings (>Tools>Internet Options>Custom Level) and select "enable" under the Downloads/File Downloads option. This will not compromise your computer's security. We promise.

If you are still having problems, send us a note. Sometimes some systems just don't like talking to each other. If this is the case, we will find a way to get you the cheatsheets - probably by email.

Can you mail/fax me the cheatsheets?

We can - though we would prefer the download option, as it involves the least time and expense for us. That said, if you absolutely must get your cheatsheets another way, let us know, and we will see what we can arrange.

I forgot to bookmark the cheatsheet download page.

Sigh...it is very tempting to write something sarcastic here, but that really wouldn't help would it. If you just purchased your cheatsheets within the last 24 hours, you will be receiving a confirmation email from us very soon with directions on how to download them. If you can't wait, or if you have deleted that email (sacré bleu!) just send us an email and we will send you off the relevant data. If you have to do this more than once (oh and we do track these things), we will be having one of our "friends" pay you a visit. Soprano's style.

I've forgotten my password - how do I get it?

Huh? This is our favourite question. Why? Because we have no idea what you are talking about. Most likely the password you have forgotten is the one to get you into PayPal. If this is the case, you've come to the wrong place. Try this link - Forget your password? - and see if that helps you out. We are at a loss to solve this one when it happens.

My draft is tomorrow/today/yesterday/happening now. Can I get the newest cheatsheets early?

In a word - no. We do our best to stick to a tight schedule for cheatsheet releases, and we just can't respond to requests for new versions early. You can imagine how much time it takes to go through 600+ players and keep them updated. It also compromises our credibility to send out our product in an incomplete form - you don't want us to become like our competitors do you? On the off-chance we do complete a new version before it is due out (rare!) we will post it early on the download page and place an announcement on our homepage. Emailed requests for new versions before the release date will be filed under "Trash" in our corporate in-box.

Where can I get a sample of your cheatsheet?

Buy one - that's the best sample you can get! We have a cheatsheet info page - containing some actual data from a previous cheatsheet. In the future, we may expand this page to include more examples from the past. Please don't send us requests for a specific player(s) stats though. We make precious little enough money on this venture as is. Just because our web designer gives his time for free, doesn't mean we want to too!

What time of day do the updated cheatsheets get released?

As early as possible, though more often than not it is towards the end of the day. We like to treat the cheatsheet release date like the due date for a school assignment - 11:59 PM in whatever time zone will provide us with the greatest leeway. We do our best to get them up before the end of the workday - 5 PM on the West coast.

Do you have any job openings at Puckjunkie?

Do we! Are you a hockey fan? Can you write a page of text and have it readable with a minimum of editing? Do you understand statistics? Are you a budding website or graphic designer? Are you independently wealthy? Do you have a surplus of free time? Speaking of free, do you mind working for...well, nothing really (we have been known to give out the occasional ball cap). If you meet all or at least most of the criteria above (the free bit is most important), feel free to drop us a note. Tell us what you are interested in doing, what skills you can bring to the table, and we will be happy to consider bringing you onboard. We did mention the salary right?

There is a problem with the page/cheatsheet link/bookmark button/website.

Sometimes these happen. We've been known to work on this site late at night, and without much sleep. We would ask you to try refreshing the page a few times first - even close your browser completely. If the problem still doesn't go away, send us an email with the URL of the offending page and as much of a description as possible. Our crack staff of technicians will get on it right away - just as soon as they finish their naps.

I've read all the FAQ and I'm still having trouble. Help!

We're sure that your mother told you this at some point, but we would like to point out that you are a very special person. If you have a "special problem" you can email us - we are constantly online. When we are big and powerful and all-encompassing we will have a 1-800 number. Until then, email us instead.
