August Trades and Analysis

Significant Transactions

TO: NEW YORK RANGERS

TO: CAROLINA HURRICANES

August 4th
  • Sandy McCarthy
  • 4th round pick, 2001
  • Rob Dimaio
  • Darren Langdon
Analysis: This trade was made as much for a change of scenery for the players as anything else. None of the players in this deal seemed comfortable where they were. McCarthy just wasn't his bruising self and neither Dimaio or Langdon really fit in with the Rangers. Only time will tell what happens with this deal, but with the free agent defections the Hurricanes are probably just glad to get some bodies.
