Hot Playoff Commodities!

April 9, 2001

There are always players that are synonymous with the playoffs - Claude Lemieux, John Druce and Esa Tikkanen to name a few. While Lemieux's Coyotes were bounced from this year's post-season parade, there are still a number of players that regularly out-perform their regular season stats. We will list our Top 10.

Player Regular Season
Points per Game
Playoff
Points per Game
Difference
Trevor Linden (VAN) 0.77 1.01 +0.24
Turner Stevenson (NJ) 0.29 0.50 +0.21
Jason Woolley (BUF) 0.49 0.64 +0.15
Andrei Nikolishin (WAS) 0.49 0.62 +0.13
John Maclean (DAL) 0.73 0.85 +0.12
Martin Lapointe (DET) 0.37 0.48 +0.11
Sylvain Cote (WAS) 0.39 0.47 +0.08
Scott Thornton (SJ) 0.24 0.32 +0.08
Doug Gilmour (BUF) 1.03 1.10 +0.07
Shayne Corson (TOR) 0.68 0.75 +0.07

When you take into account that, on average, goals per game are about 15% less in the playoffs than they are in the regular season, these numbers are even more impressive. If you're looking for a later round sleeper pick one of these guys may come in handy.
