| Analysis:
It's funny when Pavel Bure first
broke into the NHL with the Canucks the team felt he was a natural fit
to play with Igor Larionov. Didn't work then, and didn't work now.
Larionov has proven to be an bust for the Panthers. Will he do any
better back in Detroit? Well, he never really wanted to leave in the
first place and if Red Wings' management had offered him the kind of
money he got from Florida (and will be getting in Detroit now) he
probably would have stayed. As for Golubovsky, there are two things
that need to be said. First off, you can see how badly the Panthers
wanted to get rid of Larionov. They ended up taking another young
d-man and added him to a crowded lineup in Louisville of the AHL.
Let's face it this was a salary dump and house cleaning plain and
simple. Nothing against the young d-man but he was just a means to an
end. If you picked him up at the beginnning of the season in the hopes
he would crack the Top 6 in Detroit, don't hold your breath about him
making it in Florida.

| Analysis:
Gusarov wasn't getting any playing time with a very
deep defesnive corps in Colorado. Even with the rash of injuries that
hit the organization during the last month or so he still wasn't able
to crack the lineup. He'll getting plenty of opportunity to play with
the Rangers and the Avs will get a chance to save some money.

- PJ Stock
- 6th round draft pick

|
Analysis:
Odjick is a Quebec native who should get a ton of
playing time with the Habs. He's never been a big scorer but he does
have enough skill to play on an offensive line. But for the most part
Odjick will be there to throw his fists around. Assuming that he has
overcome the injuries that have plagued him for the last coulple of
season he should be a welcome addition to the Habs lineup. As for
Stock he is a bit player at best. His place in the Montreal line-up
has only been secure because of the rash of injuries He will be lucky
to see part-time duty in Philly and thus won't even be worthwhile for
a goon category.

| Analysis:
Both of these players are chronic underachievers. The
28 year-old Zholtok has never had more than 38 points in a season and
may have peaked in 99/00 with 26 goals (9 on the powerplay). He
doesn't share the puck much as witnessed by his paltry 12 assists last
year. As for Kilger he's an anomaly. Many thought that he would
blossom in Winnipeg/Phoenix after being acquired with Oleg Tverdovsky
in the Teemu Selanne deal. He never seemed to click. He has bounced
around (Montreal is his 5th organization) but he is still young and
could grow into an offensive role with the Habs.
