February 21, 2001 - 10pm PST <Update - 10:29 pm PST - the deal is done! Blake and Steve Reinprecht go to the Avalanche in exchange for Adam Deadmarsh, Aaron Miller, a 2001 first round draft choice and future considerations. Well, the Avs make darn sure that people know they're making a run at the Cup while the Kings make the best of a bad situation. Deadmarsh is exactly what they need up front and Miller is a solid if unspectular rear-guard. How does this look for a #1 powerplay unit - Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Blake and Bourque - it's just not fair!> Reports out of both LA and Denver indicate that Rob Blake will soon be a member of the Colorado Avalanche. Both teams have called news conferences for major announcements. Look for a package of players including Adam Deadmarsh and a defenseman to be heading to Hollywood along with a draft pick or two. This would most certainly anoint the Avs the favourites to come out of the West. And let's be honest, we'd have to say that any team with Ray Bourque, Rob Blake, Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy, and Peter Forsberg, is probably a favourite to go all the way. Did we mention they have some guys named Drury, Tanguay, and Hejduk as well?
