Skaters

Player Tm Pos Line PPU Saf GP G A Pts +/- PIM PPG SHG SOG Sh% P/G Comments
1 Jagr, Jaromir  WAS W 1 1 4 78 54 80 134 24 61 21 1 370 14.53 1.72 Most complete offensive weapon playing today.
2 Lemieux, Mario  PIT C 1 1 3 63 51 66 117 28 34 24 2 319 15.98 1.86 Would be #1 if he decided to play more games.
3 Bure, Pavel  FLA W 1 1 4 76 62 39 101 14 42 19 4 424 14.63 1.33 Will lead NHL in goals this year - again.
4 Sakic, Joe  COL C 1 1 4 78 40 59 99 38 34 14 3 320 12.48 1.27 Career year last year.  Getting better with age. Update: With the loss of Forsberg, the pressure will be on Sakic. Look for a slight dip in numbers. (09/23)
5 Kariya, Paul  ANH W 1 1 3 81 38 58 96 12 35 16 3 405 9.37 1.19 Needs to regain super-star form.  Lone gunman on the Pond.

Goalies

Get 'Em While You Can
These guys are horses. All the keepers in this group will play a ton of minutes, stop a ton of pucks and should get a ton of wins. Ranking is subjective, based on past performance, quality of the defensive team in front of them, and intangibles like desire to win, contract status, and experience. Still, walk away from your draft with any of these guys as your starter and you shouldn't be disappointed.
Tm Player GP MP GAA W L T SO GA SA SV% Analysis
DET Hasek, Dominik   58 3236 2.17 38 13 6 8 117 1583 0.926

Mystery illness in the off-season had some of us concerned, but he seems to have recovered. Should lead the Wings to the best record in the West and could pull the double this year (Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold Medal)

NJ Brodeur, Martin   65 3627 2.46 38 18 9 6 149 1587 0.906

Wins, wins, wins. While Brodeur doesn't have the best SV% or GAA he usually piles up the "W"s. This won't change this season. Watch out if he doesn't play much in the Olympics. A 10 day layoff in the middle of the season could hurt him.

DAL Belfour, Ed   61 3404 2.24 37 16 5 6 127 1415 0.910

The Eagle lost his edge a bit last year. It's a contract year, so look for a bit of a comeback, but he won't regain the form that led the Stars to the Cup finals two years in a row. Be careful not to take him too early.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg! Over the next few weeks we will be adding some categories (games played and points per game come easily to mind), a top forward and top defenseman list, and hopefully some projected line placements.
